You remember the sound of the gunshot. It's disingenuous to ask
where you recall that sound from, because you remember it from
everywhere. It's everywhere, a sudden sound that announces the
arrival of a consequence. The ineluctable speed of the blast is
strangely smeared by the numbing repetition of its recurrence...the
human death toll, 1000 gun deaths daily, slumps within a worldwide
scene of gunfire.
Friendly Fire is a collection of memories of gunshots from
various locations and begins to investigate the poetry of that
sound so happily lodged in our minds, and so easily brought to
mind...or maybe it's just another hail of bullets.
As the rain of Friendly Fire pelts your powerless body, know
that the members of this firing squad range from just 4 to 85 years
of age.
