STARKWHITE is one of New Zealand’s leading contemporary art galleries, recognised for its ambitious exhibition programme and strong international outlook. Founded in 1999, the gallery has played a significant role in shaping contemporary art discourse in New Zealand while fostering connections between New Zealand artists and the global art community. Based in Auckland, STARKWHITE represents a diverse roster of international established and emerging artists whose practices span painting, sculpture, photography, installation, performance, and interdisciplinary media.

In 2022 STARKWHITE partnered with 1301PE (Los Angeles) to open 1301SW in Melbourne, Australia.  From its Melbourne base, 1301SW expanded its unique and ambitious exhibition program to Sydney with the opening of a second gallery space in October 2024.
