Fiona Pardington | London Art Fair Dialogues 2018
17.01 - 21.01
17-21 January 2018
Dialogues is a guest-curated section of Art Projects, curated by Misal Adnan Yildiz, previously Artspace Director. It consists of five pairs of UK-based and international galleries.
AS AN EPISTEMOLOGICAL QUESTION: FORM IS FEMALE
A show focusing on spatial relationships between internal tangents, geometry, frameworks pathways and codes from female points of abstract thinking.
A solo presentation from Fiona Pardington is paired with a group show by Joana Bryant & Julian Page gallery artists.
Starkwhite will exhibit a selection of works from the artist’s recent body of work Nabokov’s Blues: The Charmed Circle that debuted at the Honolulu Biennial at the beginning of 2017.
Though more well known for his novels, Vladimir Nabokov was also a renowned lepidopterist. Pardington was granted special access to the butterflies he personally caught and killed; she travelled to Europe and America to meticulously document the blue-winged specimens. The photographs represent Fiona’s 30-year photographic practice where she conserves our lost histories and breathes life back into museum archives while embedding new stories into the subjects at the same time.
The presentation comes off the back of two prestigious awards; Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit (MNZM), a Queens Birthday Honour and a Chevalier de l’order Francaise des Arts et des Lettres.
