Virtual Fair | Auckland Art Fair 2020
30.04 - 17.05
The 2020 edition of the Auckland Art Fair has been cancelled and replaced by the Virtual Fair, presented entirely online.
We had planned to present exhibitions in two facing booths with a space in between for sculpture: a solo show by Fiona Pardington with new works from her important Huia series, recent photographs from TIKI: Orphans of Maoriland and images from the series The Pressure of Sunlight Falling
Our online presentation at the Virtual Fair retains the shape of our planned presentation for the Auckland Art Fair, with some significant additions. They include two of Fiona Pardington’s highly regarded photographs, Huia Lovers (2016) and Ruru Perfect Prince (2016); paintings by Australian artist Jonny Niesche; and a new screenprint of a painting by Gordon Walters released by the Walters Estate. Genealogy III is one of Walters’ most significant works and was a highlight of the recent survey exhibition, New Vision, organised by the Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tamaki and Dunedin Public Art Gallery. The new screenprint of Genealogy III will be as sought after as the earlier Walters Estate prints, which both sold out within days of their release.
In line with the organisers intention to create a heightened sense of anticipation during the lead up to the VIP Preview, we won’t be releasing all images and details of our presentation until the Virtual Fair goes live at 11am NZT Wednesday 29th April .
We look forward to seeing you then.
